Brand new aerial photos of Lanikai Beach Oahu Hawaii-Part 8

January 20, 2019

Recently I showed you some of my new aerial Kailua Beach photographs on Oahu Hawaii.

This week we’ll move slightly down Oahu’s windward coast to Lanikai Beach. Lanikai is a small beautiful beach on the southern end of Kailua Bay. What it lacks for in size, it more than makes up for in stunning scenery.

Above is an aerial photo of Lanikai Beach and the twin Mokulua Islands offshore.

This aerial photo of Kailua Beach is shot towards the south. The island you see in the far distance is Manana Island, commonly called Rabbit Island, for the introduced rabbits that used to inhabit the islet. This islet, which is offshore of Waimanalo Bay, is an important seabird nesting area.

In the last aerial photo above, I aimed the camera downward to show the bright blue water & the long palm tree shadows cast by the late afternoon sun. I love the whimsical shapes of these palm trees!

Please remember that all of my photography is for sale as fine art prints and canvases. If you’re an art director or photo editor, you can license my work for your commercial or editorial project.

Until next time, Aloha,

Mark A. Johnson

My name is Mark Johnson, and I’m a professional ocean, travel and adventure photographer. As a young kid, I started surfing at Kailua Beach in Hawaii, and as I got better, progressed to Pipeline and other North Shore spots, and then to surfing on Kauai and around the world. I live in Australia, and travel to Hawaii each year.
From my early teens, when I started shooting surfers and waves, I was in demand by my fellow water lovers, and when my first photograph was published in Surfing at the age of 18, my work was also sought after by photo editors, art directors, and regular folks who bought my fine-art prints. I’m far from only a surfing and wave photographer; my love of traveling and nature has allowed me to branch into those photographic realms as well.
