Brand new aerial photos of Kailua Beach Oahu Hawaii-Part 7

December 22, 2018

Last week I showed you new aerial Ko’olau Mountain Range photographs I captured on Oahu Hawaii with my DJI Mavic 2 drone.

This week we’ll move away from the mountains and towards the coast to Kailua Beach. Kailua is a quiet little seaside town across the Ko’olau mountains from the capital city of Honolulu.

Here’s an aerial photo of Kailua Beach showing the Ko’olau Mountain range in the background. Remember in last week’s blog about the Ko’olau’s, I mentioned the tallest peak of the Ko’olau range, Mt Konahuanui? That’s it in the background covered with a cap of clouds.

This aerial photo of Kailua Beach is shot towards the south. Those twin islands you see are the Mokulua Islands which lie just offshore of Lanikai Beach (I’ll be showing aerial photos of Lanikai beach soon).

This aerial photo of Kailua Beach is shot towards the north. That is the Mokapu Peninsula jutting out into the sea on the upper right hand side of the frame. The entire peninsula is part of Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

I’m taking a couple of weeks off for the Christmas and New Years holidays, but when I come back in January, I’ll have MORE of my new aerial photos from Hawaii! Here’s wishing you and your loved ones a great holiday, and a very Happy 2019.

Please remember that all of my photography is for sale as fine art prints and canvases. And if you’re an art director or photo editor, you can license my work for your commercial or editorial project. Contact me for more information, or go to my web page; markjohnson.com.

Until next time, Aloha,

Mark

My name is Mark Johnson, and I’m a professional ocean, travel and adventure photographer. As a young kid, I started surfing at Kailua Beach in Hawaii, and as I got better, progressed to Pipeline and other North Shore spots, and then to surfing on Kauai and around the world. I live in Australia, and travel to Hawaii each year.
From my early teens, when I started shooting surfers and waves, I was in demand by my fellow water lovers, and when my first photograph was published in Surfing at the age of 18, my work was also sought after by photo editors, art directors, and regular folks who bought my fine-art prints. I’m far from only a surfing and wave photographer; my love of traveling and nature has allowed me to branch into those photographic realms as well.
